LJ: The pods for the pool were always 'Saturday night at the pool. And if you had a date and you wanted to hang out on Saturday night, you called me and I would come and then help you bring your date to the pool and then show you around and I would say, \"Now, this is your kind of thing,\" as long as we were nice and careful about not getting into the other boys' anything. We always, I think, focused on not getting into anything too particular. We never got into any kind of anything. I don't know if I did anything with my date or not. I was about to choose a date as I was going through the line. I was going to go with a girl because I knew quite a few girls and she caught my eye.
LJ: I know they had chicken salad. I don't know that they had that. I might have been there with friends who had a date or just with a bunch of friends. It was a special kind of atmosphere where we were all getting together a little later in the summer. Some of our kids would either go to the country club or golfing or something. We all went where we wanted. We all knew each other very well but I don't think we were all friends with each other I don't think we were all friends with each other.
Strauss: My wife and I were both counselors at the public boys’ summer camp that I attended. My first summer there, she didn’t give me the job. I asked if it was because I’m young or because I was black. She told me that I had the personality and the demeanor that worked well with a group of bikers, looking for a beer concession. After that, she made a point to work me in every summer with the soccer boys. I got the summer job with the music. She kept telling me the hockey job was mine. I only got it because I had a black friend. I think she only hired me because I had a black friend and that she wanted a black counselor. I got the best job because I had friends, and she wanted to make sure that I was always working. 7211a4ac4a
