Thursday Night Football Preview

The Raiders have an important matchup Thursday as week 15 of the NFL kicks off. Vegas sits one game out of the final playoff spot in the AFC after a crushing defeat to the Indianapolis Colts last week. The Raiders allowed the Colts to run all over them, giving up over 200 yards rushing. QB Derek Carr didn't help things by throwing two costly interceptions. On the other side of the field, the 4-9 Chargers come in after a rare win against the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Anthony Lynn may be coaching for his job after a run of poor coaching decisions in recent weeks.

Keys to the Game

  1. Austin Ekeler- The 4th year back has shown improvement in all three game since returning from IR. For the Chargers to be successful Thursday night, they need Ekeler and the offensive backfield to take advantage of a Raiders rush defense that has allowed over 400 yards in the last two weeks.

  2. Turnovers- Derek Carr has thrown 5 interceptions and fumbled 3 times in the past 4 weeks. The Chargers defense has forced at least 3 turnovers in two of the last three games. To say the turnovers will have a impact on this game would be an understatement.

  3. Injuries- Justin Herbert's favorite two targets, WR Mike Williams and WR Keenan Allen, are both questionable to play for the Chargers. The duo combined for nearly 200 yards receiving and a touchdown in the previous matchup between the division rivals. The Chargers will have Joey Bosa on the field this time around who will look to introduce himself to Derek Carr for the first time this season.

Prediction: Raiders 31-24
